It was actually pretty good -- and good enough for me to continue brewing.

In retrospect I see that this particular beer is too strong for the ESB style, effectively making it an English Strong Ale. The final abv is 6.7%.

The hop character seems to be a bit restrained, so I'm considering to dry hop it in the keg.grovehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02090575637277836287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6756861315815236395.post-79586348064755928472007-03-15T15:03:00.000+01:002007-03-15T15:03:00.000+01:00Nice, I am stoked for the ESB's.I just brewed one ...Nice, I am stoked for the ESB's.

I just brewed one that had a similar recipe to what you used. I had an OG of 1.060 and I racked it last night with 1.012 showing so I feel pretty good about it.

I was a little worried initially because I did not use a starter and the Wyeast 1028 I used bubbled up fast and hard. It all worked out in the end though.

Can't wait to try it!

Cheers

TravisTravishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08293454329758079937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6756861315815236395.post-56898109762875155372007-03-14T23:20:00.000+01:002007-03-14T23:20:00.000+01:00We actually just bottled our FIRST ESB, so I'm anx...We actually just bottled our FIRST ESB, so I'm anxious to see how it turns out. It was our last batch still using a bit of extract. We've since brewed 2 all-grains. Considering your all-grain ESB experience, I'll probably be back for advice.Jonathanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16449076947080619701noreply@blogger.com
